I’ve started this blog to publish the results of some of the investigations I’ve been carrying out over the past few years to discover what goes into making some of the things we consume.

In general I’ve found that most organisations are unwilling to disclose even some of the most basic information concerning what goes on in their supply chains, where they source ingredients/components from and so on. The reasons for this are varied, but in some cases I think it is because the knowledge lies outside of the organisation concerned and there is no easy access to it.

Refreshingly I have encountered one or two organisations that have decided to make it their main objective to be totally open about everything. They have nothing to hide and have set about using that in their marketing.

A statement from ROMP:

We wish to open up our systems of production to full traceability so that no practice is hidden from our customers, who are then able to exercise, or not, their democratic rights via genuine, information based, freedom of purchase.

I leave it to you to review what I find and make up your own mind on the reasons for the answers given. I will always present here exactly what I send and receive. I don’t want to make any judgements, merely to present the state of play at a point in time. Feel free to follow these examples up at your leisure.
